Firefighters Search For Dog Seen Struggling In Water In Monroe: Volunteer Fire Department

Fire officials said anyone with information is asked to contact Monroe Animal Control or police.

MONROE, CT — Firefighters searched for a dog seen struggling in the water Thursday morning in Monroe but were unable to locate the animal, according to the Monroe Volunteer Fire Department.

In a Facebook post, the department said town-wide volunteer firefighters were called to a private beach and lake area near Flint Ridge Road around 9:20 a.m. after receiving a report of a dog seen struggling in the water.

Firefighters deployed two watercraft and searched the nearby area with police but were unable to locate the dog, according to fire officials.

Fire officials noted they "are hopeful the dog was able to swim herself out of the lake" prior to crews arriving in the area.

The dog was still missing as of Thursday at 11:30 a.m., according to the department's post.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Monroe Animal Control or police.
