MONROE, CT — Monroe Restaurant Week runs through Saturday at 23 local restaurants, a Trunk or Treat Car Show fills 706 Monroe Turnpike on Saturday, and the Town Council meets Tuesday.

1. Monroe Restaurant Week
When: Through Saturday, Oct. 17
Where: Presented by the Economic Development Commission, Town Hall, 7 Fan Hill Road
What to know: The Economic Development Commission's Restaurant Week features 23 participating restaurants, according to the town, including Aldini's Restaurant and Pizzeria, Bill's Drive-in, El Gallo De Oro, J1 Sushi, Lake Zoar Drive-In, MacDaddy's Macaroni & Cheese Bar, Monroe Diner, Monroe Fish Market, Monroe Social, Osteria Romana, Takumi Ramen and Vazzy's Osteria.

2. Trunk Or Treat Car Show
When: Saturday, Oct. 17, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. (rain date Oct. 24)
Where: 706 Monroe Turnpike
What to know: The car show, held in cooperation with the Monroe police and fire departments, invites kids to come in costume, with trophies for best kids' costume at 1 p.m. and best trunk, voted by kids, among the awards at 1:30 p.m., according to the flyer. Car registration is $20 plus a bowl of candy to hand out, and the first 100 cars get dash plaques. There will be goodie bags, raffles, a 50/50 and food trucks; no loud music or burnouts. 3. Town Council Meets Tuesday
When: Tuesday, Oct. 13, 7 p.m.
Where: Town Hall, 7 Fan Hill Road
What to know: The Town Council holds a regular meeting, according to the town's meeting schedule. The agenda had not been posted as of Thursday.

4. Blood Drive At United Methodist Church
When: Thursday, Oct. 15, noon to 5 p.m.
Where: United Methodist Church of Monroe, 515 Cutlers Farm Road
What to know: The United Methodist Church of Monroe is hosting a blood drive, according to the town's community events calendar.

5. Columbus Day Closings
When: Monday, Oct. 12
Where: Town Hall, 7 Fan Hill Road
What to know: Town Hall offices, the library, the Highway Department, the Senior Center and the Food Pantry are closed Monday, according to the town. Recycling is on its regular schedule.
