Fawn Hollow serves 682 students, while Stepney has an enrollment of 512, according to U.S. News.

Riverside School in Greenwich claimed the top spot in Connecticut, followed by Veterans Park Elementary School in Ridgefield and Bugbee School in West Hartford.

U.S. News evaluated approximately 46,000 public elementary schools nationwide using reading and mathematics performance data from state education agencies and the U.S. Department of Education.

The updated methodology incorporates student performance across all proficiency levels while accounting for student backgrounds and achievement on state assessments. Student-teacher ratios are used to break ties.

The rankings include schools serving prekindergarten through fifth or sixth grade. For schools with a broader grade range, only test results through fifth grade were considered.
