Annual Monroe Polar Plunge Returns This Weekend
The 6th Annual Polar Plunge will be held April 2 at Great Hollow Lake.

From a Stamford Patch Facebook reader:
6th Annual Polar Plunge this Saturday, April 2nd at Great Hollow Lake:
Registration starts 11:00am, Plunge 1:00pm. If you’re looking for a family-friendly charity event to bravely enjoy the chilly beginnings of spring, the Monroe Police Department and Special Olympics Connecticut would like to invite you to join us for their 6th Annual “Plunge at the Park.” Local businesses, professionals, students, civic groups, law enforcement, fire and rescue personnel, and the Masuk football team will be donning costumes (rumor has it some participants will be wearing penguin suits!), team jerseys and bathing suits to take the plunge. This year, we are extremely excited to announce that actor and retired CT Firefighter Guy A. Fortt (a.k.a. The AARP’s “Fearless At 50 Guy”) will be participating in the Plunge at the Park. Fortt has appeared on Broadway, the big screen, and most recently in a Superbowl ad! Many businesses have graciously donated monetary contributions, food and beverages, services, and family friendly prizes, including gift certificates to local restaurants and sporting events. Spectators are also welcome to come take part in the infamous egg toss, enjoy music provided by DJ Johnny Jay and giveaways from STAR 99.9, warm up with chicken soup from Soup Thyme, and devour chicken wings from Tavern, and more! Psst, we even heard our video crew from Hello Me Films, LLC will be taking live camera footage with a drone overhead this year!
