Board Of Ed Weighs Making Changes to Honor Roll Criteria
Officials estimate that the new system will result in a 7-10 percent jump in the number of honor roll students.
MONROE, CT -- The school board is considering a new system that will make qualifying for the honor roll at Jockey Hollow Middle School both simpler and easier for students to comprehend, the Monroe Courier is reporting.
Currently, students receive letter grades. The new system would change these to numerical grades, which would allow the honor roll to be calculated by the district's online Power School program.
The current system also weighs advanced-level classes more highly. The proposed system would afford equal weight to all classes: a 95 in algebra will count towards honor roll standing the same as a 95 in physical education.
