Car Break-Ins Continue to Rise in Monroe: Police

Police are reporting another rash of car break-ins in town.

MONROE, CT — Several cars in Monroe fell victim to car break-ins near the town lines, according to Monroe Police.

The department announced on Facebook that over the past weekend, Monroe police responded another rash of overnight motor vehicle thefts and thefts from unlocked cars. One car was stolen from Monroe, and the majority of instances happened on the Monroe town line near the Trumbull and Shelton borders.

"These crimes have continued to plague the area and are still very active," wrote the department on Facebook."If anyone discovers a vehicle missing or entered overnight, please contact the police department immediately."

Police say that three vehicles have been stolen, and all were unlocked with keys inside.

Earlier this month, Monroe police saw uptick in thefts from cars across the Monroe and Shelton border. Police said that all of the crimes happened during overnight hours, and the cars were left unlocked in residential driveways.

Residents are reminded to lock vehicles at night and not to leave valuables inside.
