Spring clean your closet and donate your gently worn formalwear to help prom going teens in need. The Housatonic Community College Alumni Association is collecting bridesmaid gowns, prom dresses, tuxes, suits, shoes, and bags for area high school students. Donations of haircuts, manicures, grooming kits and other services to make students prom-ready will also be accepted.

Students can select items from the collection on Saturday, April 27 from 10am – 4:30pm in the Beacon Hall Event Center on the college’s campus, located at 900 Lafayette Blvd., in Bridgeport. One dress or suit per student, and a valid school ID or report card must be presented.

“Our Project Prom 2K19 is a great way to help teens reduce the cost of attending this memorable rite of passage,” said China Byrd, who is coordinating the initiative. “We’re looking for donations to round out our collection, especially items for the guys, since those are tough to come by.”
