DUI Arrests Rise 32%, Monroe Police Say

Police say traffic enforcement increased as crash numbers declined in 2025.

MONROE, CT — Motor vehicle crashes declined in Monroe last year even as arrests for drunken driving increased, according to the town's 2025 annual report.

Police reported 297 crashes in 2025, down from 389 incidents the previous year, a nearly 24% decrease, according to data cited in the report.

At the same time, DUI arrests increased by 32%, which officials attributed in part to increased traffic enforcement.
