9th Annual Standard Companies Charity Golf Invitational

Standard Petroleum will be hosting their ninth annual Standard Companies Charity Golf Invitational on Tuesday, June 14, 2011 to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA).

The tournament will take place at Whitney Farms Golf Course in Monroe, Conn.  Registration will occur at 10:30 a.m. and participants can enjoy a barbecue lunch.  There are three options for registration.   For $850, a foursome can register to play in the tournament and an individual can register to play for $225.  There is also an option to register for “Non-golfing Social” for $100, which includes social hour, dinner and awards.  Sponsorship opportunities are still available. 

The event will tee off at 12:30 p.m. and dinner and awards will be provided following golf at 5:30 p.m.  Golf attire is required for dinner.  Awards include: First place, hole-in-one, longest drive, and closest to the pin.

Standard Petroleum is a sponsor of MDA.  Over the past eight years, Standard Petroleum has been able to donate over $200,000 to MDA and the tournament grossed over $45,000 last year.  In addition to fundraising, Standard Petroleum adopted Julian Sierra as their Goodwill Ambassador (GWA).  Julian acted as the Local GWA for three years and he is currently serving as the 2011 MDA State GWA.  Julian has been involved in many MDA events, including golf outings, firefighter events, and the MDA NY Telethon.

MDA is the nonprofit healthy agency dedicated to curing muscular dystrophy, ALS and related disease by funding worldwide research.  The Association also provides comprehensive health care and support services, advocacy and education.
