Rock and Roll Dance

When was the last time you danced to a live Rock and Roll band?  You have your chance on April 14, 2012 from 8-11 PM.  Members of this band, Staples H.S. alums have been friends for over 40 years.  Musically they competed and collaborated in many different bands.  After graduation our three guitar players went on to notable careers in the industry.

Charlie Karp, award-winning songwriter, singer and guitarist began his career when still a teen recording with The Buddy Miles Band and touring internationally with Jimi Hendrix.  He has written songs for Joan Jett and Aerosmith among others and is an Emmy winning producer of music for sports networks, documentaries and feature films.   

Brian Keane is an award-winning composer and producer who began his career as a jazz guitarist touring internationally with Larry Coryell.  He went on to produce dozens of recordings for a variety of artists as diverse as Pete Seeger, Linda Ronstadt and The London Symphony Orchestra.  Keane has scored more than 350 films in his career including all of Ric Burns’ acclaimed documentaries for PBS.  He has composed the music to Emmy and Academy Award-winning films, a Grammy-winning soundtrack and a dozen Peabody Award Winning films.

Michael Mugrage, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist began his career in 1974 with a recording contract with ABC Records.  He toured nationally as lead guitar player with the band Orleans.  Mugrage has collaborated with Ronnie Spector, Bruce Hornsby, James Brown and  Felix Cavaliere and has written songs for Smokey Robinson and Chaka Khan.    His many TV and film credits include HBO, Showtime, MSG and ESPN.  Michael has donated over 500 songs for the benefit of terminally ill children through the Songs of Love Foundation. 

All are now joining forces in a “Reunion Band” to help raise money for a good cause.  So put on your dancing shoes, invite your friends and get ready to rock the Rexford House at Monroe Congregational Church.   Admission will be $10.00 per person and refreshments will be available for purchase.   All proceeds will benefit local charities.
