Fairfield Prep's Jonathan Siveyer named National Merit Finalist

Standout student earns scholarship opportunity

Fairfield Prep is proud to announce senior Jonathan Siveyer has been named as a National Merit Finalist for the 2016–17 academic year. He is a resident of Monroe. Of the 1.5 million entrants in the nation, Jonathan was initially recognized among the top 16,000 semifinalists, and continuing on in the competition he has now been recognized as one of 15,000 finalists. This outstanding achievement is highly consistent with Jonathan’s academic journey at Prep during which time he has taken the strongest course of study available in each academic year, and is currently enrolled in AP Biology, AP English Language, AP European History, AP Physics and AP Calculus BC. Jonathan is a member of the National Honor Society having achieved Summa Cum Laude honors each year; he received the Xerox Book Award sponsored by the University of Rochester. Jonathan is also an AP Scholar.

Jonathan is highly skilled and extremely passionate about science and has competed in the Connecticut State Science Fair each year. Although Jonathan’s passion is science, his broadness and openness to growth are fully demonstrated by his involvement in a variety of extracurricular activities at Prep. Jonathan is co-president of Prep’s Science Fair Club, he holds a leadership position in the Business Club, is active in both Debate and Model United Nations as well as contributing to the success of Prep’s Math Team. Jonathan is also a member of the Spanish Honor Society and active in Prep’s Astronomy Club. He has made a solid contribution to the Prep community by his involvement in the Peer Tutor program and to the local community through service at the McGivney Center in Bridgeport, CT, where he serves as a volunteer mentor and tutor in their after school program. Jonathan is also committed to service through the Boy Scouts of America and has achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. An outstanding student and young man, Jonathan’s recognition as National Merit Finalist is a powerful validation of his outstanding achievements and desire for excellence in all areas of his life.
