Fire Damages Monroe Home, Temporarily Displaces Family: FD
The fire was reported at about 6 a.m. on Thursday.

MONROE, CT — Firefighters extinguished a house fire on Captains Hill Road in Monroe Thursday morning, which resulted in the temporary displacement of the family who lives there, according to officials.
No injuries were reported in the 6 a.m. blaze, though initially firefighters were not sure if there were any occupants inside.
There were none, but it took about 40 minutes and multiple fire companies to douse the flames. See the Facebook post below.

In all, five fire engines and two fire trucks were needed to bring the fire under control, and fire marshals are investigating its cause.
The American Red Cross is giving support to the displaced family, including "providing comfort kits containing personal care items such as toothbrushes, deodorant, shaving supplies and other items." How long they will be displaced is not known.

"Those affected will connect with Red Cross caseworkers in the coming days to work on a longer-term recovery plan," officials with the Red Cross said in a statement. "The Red Cross can provide assistance through the generosity of our donors and the commitment of our volunteers."
