Food Fight: The Winner is ... Healthy Food Chinese Kitchen

Healthy Food Chinese Kitchen, 650 Main St., finished on top of a poll of four town restaurants when readers were asked "Who Has the Best Chinese Takeout in Monroe."

The contest attracted 105 votes on the poll, 14 comments on Facebook, 12 comments under the article and several reviews on restaurant listing pages.

Healthy Food Chinese Kitchen took 48 of the 105 poll votes — 45 percent of the total.

"Healthy Food Chinese Kitchen is [definitely] the best in Monroe," wrote one commenter.

Also doing well in the poll was Peking Tokyo, 535 Monroe Turnpike, with 28 votes.

"We usually hit Peking Tokyo, but now I might need to venture out to other places," Lani Dingman wrote in a Facebook post. "Thanks for all the recommendations."

Great Fortune, 401 Monroe Turnpike, came in third. A review on its listing page says, "This place must have opened just before I moved to Monroe. I have been a regular customer and wouldn't consider going elsewhere. The food is good and the portions are generous."

Though Xiang Chinese Kitchen, a newer place that opened in the Main Street shopping center housing Starbucks, finished in fourth, several commenters had high praise for the restaurant.

"Xiang Chinese is the best in town," one commenter wrote.
