Derby-Shelton Fireworks 2026

When: Thursday, July 2, 2026, 6 p.m.
Where: Elizabeth St, Derby

An evening of music, food and fireworks awaits in Derby, about 15 minutes away, during the Derby-Shelton Fireworks 2026 celebration. The free family-friendly event features live entertainment, local food vendors and a fireworks display at dusk in downtown Derby.

America 250 Celebration

When: Friday, July 3, 2026, 6 p.m.
Where: Orange Fairgrounds | 525 Orange Center Rd, Orange
Admission: Free

Just 25 minutes from Monroe, Orange is set to host a memorable celebration of America's 250th anniversary. The evening will feature live music, historical reenactments, student presentations and a one-of-a-kind fireworks display highlighted by 250 ceremonial volleys and a patriotic USA-themed grand finale.

Independence Day Fireworks

When: Friday, July 3, 2026, 9:15 p.m.
Where: Jennings Beach & Penfield Beach, Fairfield
Admission: Free (Check website for parking cost)

A waterfront fireworks tradition returns to Fairfield, about 25 minutes away, with a Fourth of July display over Long Island Sound. Spectators can gather at Penfield or Jennings beaches to watch the fireworks launched from an offshore barge, creating a memorable holiday backdrop along the Connecticut coast.

Fourth Of July Drop-In Craft

When: Thursday, July 2, 2026, 9:30–10:30 a.m.
Where: Edith Wheeler Memorial Library | 733 Monroe Tpk, Monroe
Admission: Free

Young children can celebrate America's 250th birthday at the Edith Wheeler Memorial Library with a Fourth of July drop-in craft activity. Participants will create a patriotic noisemaker while supplies last, with caregiver assistance encouraged for younger children.

Where: The Gilded Curtain | 86 Center St, Wallingford

For those seeking a more refined way to celebrate America's 250th anniversary, Wallingford, about 35 minutes from Monroe, is hosting a special adults-only event at The Gilded Curtain. Light Up Monroe

Residents can take part in Monroe's "Light Up Monroe" initiative, a community-wide tribute to America's 250th anniversary. Participants can purchase luminaria kits for $5 per dozen to illuminate their homes and businesses, creating a patriotic display across town on the evening of July 4.
