Groundbreaking For New Wolfe Park Fields In Monroe Set For Next Week
The construction area will be delineated by orange safety fencing.

MONROE, CT — A groundbreaking ceremony will be held next week for the construction of the new athletic fields at Wolfe Park.
"These new fields will provide much needed additional space for youth sports and other programming by building one new full-size and one new practice field in the area behind the existing tennis courts," First Selectman Ken Kellogg said in a statement released Thursday.
The ceremony is set for April 18 at noon.

The construction area will be delineated by orange safety fencing. The fencing will be installed alongside the basketball courts, behind the Wolf’s Den playground and up to the tennis courts.
For the duration of the project, heavy equipment will remain on-site, and fuel trucks and large dump trucks will be delivering construction materials on a regular basis. Construction vehicles will enter through the main, pool side parking lot and travel alongside the basketball courts and behind the Wolf’s Den playground, according to the news release.

The footpath that leads from the parking lot to Great Hollow Lake will remain open, officials are requesting all pedestrian traffic to utilize routes outside of the orange construction fences.
Construction is expected to be completed in the fall of 2023.
