Historic Monroe Home Heavily Damaged in Fire

The fire broke out at the home Sunday morning.

A historic Monroe house was heavily damaged in a fire early Sunday morning.

The fire at 181 Hammertown Road was reported around 5 a.m., fire department spokesman Kevin Catalano said in a Facebook post. According to Catalano, the house dates back to the 1770s.

A single resident of the home was evaluated for smoke inhalation.
