Home Health Aide Stole Over 10K From Elderly Monroe Residents: Cops

A home health aide was arrested on Monday after Monroe police say she stole money from her elderly clients.

According to police, Tasha Daniels, 37, of Bridgeport turned herself in on an active arrest warrant and was later taken to Bridgeport Superior Court for arraignment.

Monroe police received a larceny complaint from the daughter of the elderly clients.

The daughter reported irregularities in her parents’ banking accounts after receiving invoices from her parents’ home health care agency that indicated a large unpaid balance, police said. After reviewing her parent’s banking statements and cancelled checks, she found checks intended to pay the home health care agency that were signed by Daniels.

According to police, detectives obtained search and seizure warrants for Daniels’ bank account and the investigation revealed she had allegedly deposited a total of 25 checks intended to pay the home health care agency into her personal account.

The total amount of the checks was $18,256.98, police said.

Daniels was charged with second-degree larceny and second-degree larceny towards a victim over 60-years old. She was given a bond of $25,000.
