Some towns seems to have an abundance of them, some have a few, and 15 Connecticut communities should actually have none, but more on that last part later.

Because of that regulation the following Connecticut towns are not supposed to have package stores including: Bridgewater, Canaan, Chaplin, Colebrook, Cornwall, Eastford, Franklin, Hartland, Lyme, Morris, Norfolk, Roxbury, Scotland, Union, and Warren.

And the communities that are allowed to have the most are of course the biggest cities including: Bridgeport, 57, Hartford, 49, New Haven, 51, Stamford, 49, and Waterbury, 44.

The Register Citizen reported in 2014 that more than 30 Connecticut communities have more package stores than is allowed. One explanation is that the population had decreased and existing package stores were not forced to close or others were grandfathered in, the paper reported.

Also some towns that are supposed to have zero package stores because they have less than 2,500 residents still have them including Canaan, which has three.
