Intoxicated Man Ran Two Stop Signs in Monroe: Police
The man also reportedly almost crashed into a guardrail.

A Stratford man is facing a DUI charge after police say he ran two stop signs and almost crashed into a guardrail in Monroe.
According to police, an officer assigned to OUI enforcement was observing traffic at the intersection of Route 110 and Moose Hill Road around 1:15 a.m. on Nov. 26 when he saw Christopher Phillips, 45, of Stratford go through a stop sign on Route 110. Phillips was reportedly speeding.
He then went through the stop sign at Route 111 and almost crashed into the guardrail on the side of the road as he turned left, police said. Phillips crossed over the center line into oncoming traffic, causing them to take evasive action as the officer attempted to catch up with him.

He was stopped at the intersection of Route 111 and Cross Hill Road. Police said they detected the smell of alcohol on his breath and Phillips was confused.
He failed field sobriety tests and was arrested and charged with operating under the influence of alcohol, failure to stop for a stop sign and failure to maintain lane. He was given a $500 bond and a court date of Dec. 7.

Police said Phillips refused to submit a breath test.
