Man Facing DUI Charge in Monroe
The man reportedly crossed over the center line into oncoming traffic several time.

A Sandy Hook man is facing a DUI charge after police received a report of an erratic driver in a black Mercedes Benz on Route 25 in Monroe.
According to police, a complainant said the driver reportedly crossed over the center line several times into oncoming traffic just after 6 p.m. on Sunday. An officer who responded to the scene also observed the car cross over the center line.
After the car was stopped, officers detected the smell of alcohol on the driver’s breath who was reportedly unsteady on his feet and needed help to exit the car. The driver, 39-year-old Marc Escarilla failed standardized sobriety tests and was arrested. Police said he refused to take a breath test.

Escarilla was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and failure to drive in the proper lane.
He was given a $500 bond and a court date of Dec. 1.
