Police found that the man did not have a valid driver's license.

A Bridgeport man is facing charges after police say he was driving under the influence.

An officer on patrol observed an Orange Ford Mustang traveling south at a slow speed on Route 25 on Aug. 31. Police said the vehicle crossed over the center line several times and almost struck oncoming traffic.

When the officer stopped the Mustang, he noticed the smell of alcohol on the operator, identified as 25-year-old Antonio Fuentes. Fuentes failed standardized field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest.

According to police, Fuentes had a large machete under the front seat. Officers further determined that the Mustang was not registered or insured, the license plates belonged to a different vehicle and Fuentes did not hold a valid driver’s license.

Fuentes was charged with operating under the influence, misuse of license plate, no insurance, unregistered motor vehicle, operating without a license, failure to drive in the proper lane and carrying a weapon in a motor vehicle. He was given a $1,000 bond and a court date of Sept. 9.
