Man Hit Victim With 20-Pound Rock During Monroe Brawl: Police

One person was admitted to the hospital as a result of the brawl.

MONROE, CT — A Fairfield man was one of four arrested after a fight in Monroe after police say he used a 20-plus pound rock during the brawl, Monroe police announced Monday.

John Best, 37, of Fairfield was accused of using the rock during the brawl, which involved five people and resulted in multiple injuries. Capt. Keith White of the Monroe Police Department told Patch that Best struck a victim in the head with the rock.

Police say that all five people were known to each other, and the alleged assaults were confined to the group.

According to police, the fight happened in a driveway on Hattertown Road, and officers responded after the property's landlord had called to report the fracas.

Best was charged with assault in the first degree and breach of peace in the second degree. He was due to appear in court on Monday.

The three others charged are as follows:

  • Jesenia Dejesus, 38, of Monroe was charged with assault in the third degree and breach of peace in the second degree. She was released on a written promise to appear, and given a court date of March 21.
  • Tiffany McNeil, 35, of Stratford was charged with conspiracy to commit assault in the third degree and breach of peace in the second degree. She was released on a $500 bond and given a court date of March 22.
  • William Bantle, 36, of Stratford was charged with conspiracy to commit assault in the third degree and breach of peace in the second degree. He was released on a $1,000 bond and was given a court date of March 22.
