Man Killed in Motorcycle Vs. Pickup Truck Crash in Monroe

The collision occurred Saturday morning on Shelton Road.

MONROE, CT — A man was killed in a crash between a motorcycle and a truck in Monroe Saturday morning, according to police.

Police responded to the scene around 10:20 a.m. on Shelton Road at the intersection of Wheeler Road. A 2011 Harley Davidson operated by a 68-year-old man was traveling westbound on Shelton Road and a 2003 GMC dump body pickup truck pulling a trailer was traveling northbound on Wheeler Road, police said.

According to police, the crash occurred when the GMC entered Shelton Road and struck the motorcycle. The operator of the motorcycle was taken to Bridgeport Hospital but the injuries he sustained in the crash were fatal.

He was identified as Russell Curtis, of West Haven. Shelton Road was closed for an hour during the initial investigation.

The case remains under investigation.

This is the second fatal motorcycle collision in Monroe in the last five days.
