Man Struck In Driveway, Driver Charged With DUI In Monroe: Police
Police said the driver showed signs of impairment after the crash.
MONROE, CT — A man was struck in a Monroe driveway and the driver is facing drunken driving charges, police said.
Officers responded to a reported motor vehicle accident on Barn Hill Road around 9:31 p.m. on March 21, according to the Monroe Police Department.
Police said an adult male was walking down a driveway when he was struck by a pickup truck that was backing up.

The driver told police he did not see the individual while reversing. After the collision, the driver moved the vehicle forward and contacted police, according to the report.
During the investigation, officers observed signs of impairment, including the odor of an alcoholic beverage and bloodshot, glossy eyes. The driver also admitted to consuming alcohol prior to the crash, police said.

He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and unsafe backing.
The driver was issued a misdemeanor summons and released after posting 7 percent of a $500 bond, police said.
He is scheduled to appear at Superior Court in Bridgeport on April 6.
