Details of good work done or being done
Since 2008, Susan has served as the Manager of the Monroe Farmers’ Market. Together with a small committee of volunteers, she has turned a small Summer/Fall farmers’ market with just a handful of vendors, into a bustling weekly community event that is sharply focused on bringing healthful, locally grown and produced goods from Connecticut Farmers, to the Monroe community and surrounding towns. The market is a weekly destination for families who enjoy shopping for local fruits and vegetables and healthy, locally produced goods. They enjoy free entertainment and activities for adults and children.
Why do you feel is this person an everyday hero?
Susan works non-stop in the early part of each year to bring the best local vendors and producers together at the market on a weekly basis during market season. Her focus has always been on introducing children to healthy eating habits, sustainable, environmentally-friendly living practices and opportunities for them to learn where there food comes from. She believes strongly in supporting local producers and growers and has kept the market true to its mission since it was founded.
Additional details about the market can be found on the market’s website or on their Facebook page.
