Monroe Brothers Facing Charges After Alleged Fight Over Money

Two brothers reportedly got into a fight after one refused to give the other money, police said.

Two Monroe brothers are facing assault charges after they reportedly got into a fight on Thursday.

Police received a report about two men fighting on the front lawn of a home on Williamsburg Drive around 6:50 p.m. While responding, one of the combatants reportedly left the scene in a red vehicle.

Officers responded to the scene while others located the red vehicle in the general vicinity of the incident.

After investigation, police found that brothers, Michael Ward, 47 and Raymond Ward, 49 had a physical confrontation after Michael allegedly became upset that Raymond would not give him money.

Raymond left the scene and when he returned he found that Michael had broken out a window on Raymond’s truck parked at the house, police said. This started a second physical altercation with both brothers punching each other before Raymond left for a second time.

Michael was charged with third-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal mischief. He was held in lieu of a $1,500 bond and given a court date of Aug. 28.
