Monroe Candidate Profile: Alan Vaglivelo For Board Of Ed.

Vaglivelo shares with Patch why he should be re-elected to the Monroe Board of Education.

MONROE, CT — The 2019 municipal election is heating up in Monroe and there are plenty of races with candidates eager to serve in elected office. First Selectman Ken Kellogg will face no challenger, but the races for town council and other offices are contested.

Monroe Patch asked candidates to answer questions about their campaigns and will be publishing candidate profiles as election day draws near.

Alan Vaglivelo is running for the Monroe Board of Education as a Democrat and has been a school psychologist for 20 years. He has been on the Board of Education for 12 years.

We need to continue the momentum of high performing schools in Monroe. Many new and current families are here for our quality schools and we need to make sure we maintain high standards.

What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

I intend to fight for small class sizes in elementary school and make sure our educators have the tools they need to deliver high quality instruction.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle
this job?

I have 20 years experience working in special education, collaborating with educators to meet student needs and analyzing educational data.

Politics has no home on the Board of Education.

What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

I will continue to fight hard to maintain strong schools for the families of Monroe. Families are moving to Monroe for out top performing schools and I will continue to be their advocate.
