Monroe Drivers: Be Careful and Expect Delays on These Roads in Fairfield County This Week
If you're driving past these construction, maintenance or surveying spots, lane closures or lane shifts may delay you — and drive carefully.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation says road work will result in lane closures and possibly delays on these streets in Fairfield County this week (a compilation of news releases):
Cities and towns with state road projects this week: Norwalk, Westport, Stamford, Bridgeport and Stratford
Nov. 10 (Monday) to Nov. 25: Norwalk & Westport, Interstate 95 Between Exits 15 and 17
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that a nighttime bridge maintenance project will be performed on I-95 in Norwalk, Nov. 10-25, 2014.

The project consists of bridge maintenance on Bridge #00060 (East Avenue) in Norwalk. This project is scheduled to occur from 8:30 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Monday, November 10, 2014 to the morning of Tuesday, November 25, 2014.

This project is included in the Department of Transportation’s 2014 bridge maintenance program to support state forces with bridge repairs and is being performed by Mohawk Northeast.
LANE CLOSURE INFO
Motorists can expect lane closures on I-95 Northbound & Southbound between Exit 15 (U.S. Rt. 7) and Exit 17 (Rt. 33, Saugatuck Ave.) in Norwalk. Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists through the work zone. The regular work schedule for this project is from 8:30 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. (Monday – Friday).
Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity.
Thursday Night, Nov. 13 to Nov. 20: Stamford, Near Exit 9
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing nighttime lane closures to perform surveying for the Route 1 (East Main Street) bridge over I-95 in Stamford starting on Thursday, November 13, 2014.
The project consists of the following work locations:
On Thursday night, November 13, on I-95 Northbound in the vicinity of Exit 9 from the Blachley Avenue overpass to approximately ¼ mile north of the Route 1 Bridge at the Hamilton Avenue underpass; the left two lanes will be closed to allow for survey of the pavement and bridge pier. Both northbound exit and entrance ramps will remain open throughout this operation.
This operation will be weather dependent. Rain dates are November 18 and November 20.
Nights, Now Through Nov. 21: Bridgeport, Route 8 from I-95 to Exit 2
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that a nighttime bridge maintenance project will be performed on Route 8 in Bridgeport, November 9-21, 2014.
The work consists of bridge maintenance on the bridges listed below. This work is scheduled to occur from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
· Bridge #3538 over Prospect Street
· Bridge #3539 over Route 130 (State Street)
· Bridge #3540 over John Street
· Bridge #3541 over SR 700 Fairfield Avenue
· Bridge #3542 over SB Route 8 Ramp 126
This project is included in the Department of Transportation’s 2014 bridge maintenance program.
LANE CLOSURE INFO
Motorists can expect lane closures on Route 8, Northbound & Southbound between Interstate 95 and Exit 2 (SR 700), in Bridgeport.
Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists through the work zone. The regular work schedule for this project is from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., Sunday through Friday.
Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity.

The department’s ongoing bridge evaluation and maintenance work will result in lane shifts or lane closures at these spots around Fairfield County this week, the state DOT announced:
MONDAY, Nov. 10
Stamford — 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. — Myrtle Avenue — lane shifts
Stratford — 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. — Route 8 southbound between Exits 11 and 10 — alternating left- and right-lane closures
TUESDAY, Nov. 11
Stamford — 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. — South State Street and Lafayette Street — alternating right- and left-lane closures (continues Tuesday)
Stratford — 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. — Rt. 8 northbound between Exits 10 and 12 — alternating left and right lane closures
Norwalk — 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. — West Avenue between North Water Street and Connecticut Avenue — alternating lane closures
Westport — 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. — Greens Farms Road and Clayton Street — shoulder closures/lane shifts on Maple Lane
WEDNESDAY, Nov. 12
Stamford — 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. — South State Street and Lafayette Street — alternating right- and left-lane closures (same as Monday)
