Monroe Drivers: State Police to Enforce 'Operation S.A.N.T.A.' to Curb Drunk Driving

State Police will increase traffic enforcement in the Greater Danbury and Waterbury area as part of increased enforcement during the holiday season.

Police have launched the annual holiday enforcement program nicknamed Operation S.A.N.T.A. (Stop Another Needless Tragic Accident) to curtail dangerous driving behavior.

The focus will be to rid the state roads and highways of drivers who drive under the influence, speed and fail to wear seatbelts.

“Our state troopers are trying to save lives and keep all of our roads and highways safe,” said Emergency Services and Public Protection Commissioner Dora Schriro, Remember mixing alcohol with driving any vehicle is a dangerous combination for everyone, and illegal in our state”

Police encourage anyone who spots a suspected drunk driver to report it by calling 911.

The increased enforcement will be done at various locations on Interstate 84 between Dec. 19 and January 3.
