Monroe Man Arrested on Weapons Charge
Police said the man was ineligible to be in possession of a firearm because of a protective order.

A Monroe man ineligible to possess a firearm because of a protective order is facing charges after he failed to surrender a shotgun registered to him, police said.
He was first ordered to surrender the shotgun by State Police before the matter was turned over to the Monroe Police Department.
Police said they informed both Nelson Montalvo, 50 and his attorney that the shotgun needed to be surrendered or if he was no longer in possession of the weapon, a sworn written statement needed to be sent to police. According to police, a warrant was issued for Montalvo’s arrest after they did not receive a response from him or his lawyer.
