Monroe Native to Hit Skate for Danbury Whalers
J.R. Bria was invited to play in the inaugural Green and White game at Danbury Ice Arena on Sept. 11.
Monroe native J.R. Bria has been invited to play in the Danbury Whalers' inaugural Green and White game at the Danbury Ice Arena on September 11.
The contest, which starts at 7 p.m, features all 34 of the players who will participate in the Whalers' official
training camp in October.
The 27-year-old Bria played four seasons of college hockey at Colgate and Massachusetts, Lowell and has spent the past four years as a professional in the ECHL and Central Hockey Leagues.
Last season, the 5-11, 200-pound defenseman skate in 20 games for the CHL's Wichita Thunder and Odessa Jackalopes. Since turning pro in 2006, he has three goals and 20 assists in 151 career games.
The Danbury Whalers will debut this fall in the Federal League, a Class A minor league with six teams located in Connecticut, New York and Canada.
Tickets for the Green and White event are $5 and can be purchased by calling 973-713-7547. Proceeds for the game will go towards the development of Connecticut Youth Hockey.
