Overall, Connecticut is the 12th safest state and the authors note that by living in the Nutmeg State “you live in a relatively non-dangerous area.”

According to the statistics, here are the 10 safest cities in the Connecticut:

  1. Ridgefield
  2. Easton
  3. Wilton
  4. Darien
  5. Weston
  6. Redding
  7. Newtown
  8. Madison
  9. Monroe
  10. New Canaan

RoadSnacks provides in-depth information on why each community was chosen and ranked where it is.

For example, Ridgefield has the lowest number of violent and property crimes per person in the state in 2013. In fact, there were zero violent crimes in 2013 out of 25,000 people in Ridgefield.

By comparison, New Haven had 1,600 violent crimes alone in 2013, which was the highest in the state.

Easton had just two violent crimes in 2013, Wilton has had four violent crimes since 2011, and Darien’s crime numbers have been plummeting over the past few years, the report states.

Darien’s property crimes have been reduced in half since 2011 when 150 such cases were reported.

Newtown reported just two violent crimes in 2013 and Madison also had two violent crimes in 2013, and the authors said Madison is a “quiet, peaceful” community.
