Monroe PD Mourns Passing of K9 Gunner

The end of watch for Monroe Police K9 Officer Gunner came at 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 29.

MONROE, CT — The police are mourning the passing of one of their own, K9 Gunner.

K9 Gunner served with the Monroe PD from June 15, 2011, through Jan. 18, 2017. He was the partner of Officer Jeffrey Loomis.

K9 Gunner’s narcotics detection has led to dozens of arrests for both the Monroe PD as well as law enforcement agencies in the surrounding area, police wrote on their Facebook page.

K9 Gunner successfully tracked missing loved ones to reunite families, as well as criminals.

"His unwavering devotion to his partner, this department and this town never wavered, even as he fought to come back from a typically fatal battle against 'bloat' in 2016," police reported.
