Monroe Plunge at the Park 2017: Schedule, Registration and More
The police department's 7th annual event is coming up, and the event is seeking sponsors. Here is what you need to know.
MONROE, CT — The Monroe Police Department's 7th annual Plunge is quickly approaching, and hundreds of residents are making preparations to take an icy dip to benefit Special Olympics Connecticut. The event is the largest grassroots fundraiser to benefit Special Olympics Connecticut

Schedule
The event will be held Saturday, April 1 at Great Hollow Lake at Wolf Park, located on DOC Silverstone Drive.

Check-in will be held at 11 a.m. and the plunge will take place at 1 p.m.
Details
The event will feature a plunge into the frigid waters of Great Hollow Lake. Town officials expect to have local businesses, residents, town employees, civic groups and more participate in the plunge. Those who are underage or do not wish to take the plunge can support the event by purchasing an "I'm a Chicken" t-shirt.

Fundraising
According to the event's Classy fundraising campaign, plungers, or "penguins" need to raise a minimum of $100. There will also be a costume contest and awards for top fundraisers.
The page has currently raised $1,045 of it's $20,000 goal.
