MONROE, CT — The Monroe Police Department has promoted one of its officers.

Officer John McAulay was promoted to the rank of sergeant on Monday.

McAulay has been with the department for over a decade, according to a post on the PD's Facebook page. During that time, he has been a firearms instructor, a K-9 handler, and assistant team leader on the Department's regional emergency response team.
