MONROE, CT — The Monroe Police Department is inviting the public to "Coffee With A Cop," to be held Wednesday, Oct. 5, from 9:30-11:00 a.m. at Last Drop Coffee Shop, 435 Main Street.

"It’s basically a meet and greet with the community/public we serve where we will answer questions or simply just get to know the concerns of the public first hand," Lt. Michael Sweeney said in an email.

"Coffee with a Cop" was created by police officers in Hawthorne, California, in 2011. Since then, events have been hosted in all 50 states and nine countries. The program brings police officers and the community members they serve together over coffee to discuss issues and learn more about each other.
