Monroe Police: Newtown Man Drove Drunk, With Suspended License

The suspect refused to give a breath sample during the booking process.

A Newtown man was arrested in Monroe Monday on multiple motor vehicle violations.

Police said Ronald Frate, 48, was driving a gray 2015 Ford F150 at a high rate of speed south on Route 25.

He was stopped by an officer in the parking lot of 456 Route 25, where the officer allegedly smelled alcohol on Frate’s breath.

Frate failed standardized field sobriety tests and, during the booking process, refused to give a breath sample.

A check of DMV records found that Frate’s driver’s license had been suspended since February.

He was charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence, traveling fast, unsafe movement of a stopped motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle without insurance and operating with a suspended license.

Frate’s bond was set at $650 and will appear in court Tuesday.
