Monroe School Budget Deficit Reduced

A spending freeze helped save some money, but a $1.2 million remains.

MONROE, CT — Monroe officials have managed to lower the estimated school budget deficit to $1.2 million.

The town has a little over $1 million in a contingency account for cost overruns, according to the Monroe Sun.

About $516,000 in savings came from a spending freeze, said Acting Superintendent Joseph Kobza.
