Monroe Sets Date for Fishing Derby

The annual event is open to children ages 3-15 years old

MONROE, CT — The Town's annual Children's Fishing Derby will be held Saturday, May 18 at Great Hollow Lake in Wolfe Park from 6-9 a.m.

The annual event, open to children ages 3-15 years old, is cosponsored by the Monroe Police Union, Monroe Police Department, North American Sportsman, and Monroe Parks and Recreation Department.

The largest fish of any kind by weight in five different age groups (5 and under, ages 6 and 7, ages 8 and 9, ages 10 and 11, and ages 12-15) will win a prize, one prize per person.

Worms for bait will also be available while supplies last. Participants will need to bring their own fishing gear including fishing pole, tackle and bucket to transport fish to the weigh station.
