The 2015 Monroe 5k Trail Run, in conjunction with title sponsor Edgerton, Inc., presented the Monroe Town Council with an $11,500 donation check raised at their annual Trail Run/Walk that took place on October 4th at Great Hollow Lake.
The money will be used towards funding Project Warmth, a fund dedicated to providing heating assistance to Monroe families.
“Despite the weather being against us, our great town rallied in both sponsorships and participants for this extremely worth while cause,” race committee member Amy Briand said.
This is the fourth year the group has held the fundraiser and the $11,500 raised is the largest annual donation to date.
“The race committee comprised of Alyssa Scalia, Matt and Amy Briand, Kerri Swift and Jen Aguilar would like to thank all the race sponsors, race participants and volunteers that make this day successful. We look forward to seeing everyone at our 2016 event this October,” the committee said in a release.
