Monroe Under 'Code Red,' Schools Announce Changes to Monday
Snow and ice on the way Sunday evening has forced officials to make a decision on school opening Monday.
Monroe Public Schools are closed on Monday due to snow and ice in the forecast on Sunday night and Monday.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning and is predicting between 10-14 inches of snow and ice to accumulate between late Sunday into Monday evening.

The Town of Monroe is also under a Code Red Alert:
Good evening, today is February 1, 2015. This is a Code Red notification message from Monroe emergency Management and the Monroe Police Department. Winter storm Darius is forecast to hit our area late this evening and continue into tomorrow, with substantial amounts of snow and freezing rain.

A parking ban is in effect from 9pm tonight until 9pm tomorrow evening. Vehicles parked in the streets in violation of this ban will be ticketed and towed.

If you are using a generator at your home, make sure it is properly ventilated.
Residents are encouraged to shelter in place. The need to open any town emergency shelters will be evaluated continually throughout the storm
