Monroe Voters Pass Municipal Budget

Over 70 percent of voters approved the budget, but overall voter turnout was very low

MONROE, CT — The proposed $84.9-million municipal budget was voted in at the polls last night, with over 70 percent of voters casting their votes in favor.

The budget breaks down as $56,146,117 for education, $28,561,594 on the town side, and another $185,000 for fund appropriations. That's 2.51 percent more than the current fiscal year budget, but the mill rate drops 1.44 percent, which should result in a lightening of real estate tax bills.
