MONROE WEATHER ALERT: NWS Issues Wind Chill Advisory for Friday-Saturday

The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Chill Advisory for Fairfield County beginning Friday at 4 p.m. and continuing through 4 p.m. on Saturday.

Wind gusts of between 25 to 50 MPH are expected and temperatures will drop down into the single digits. Driving conditions are hazardous during this time due to the strong wind gusts. Tree limbs may fall onto electrical wires causing power outages.

The area is also under a Hazardous Weather Outlook due to the snow, which will taper off late this morning. Road conditions could become slippery due to the snow that has fallen.

A detailed forecast from the NWS is below:

• Today - Snow, mainly before noon. High near 32. Wind chill values between 15 and 25. Light and variable wind becoming northwest 8 to 13 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Total daytime snow accumulation of around an inch possible.
• Tonight - Partly cloudy, with a low around 2. Wind chill values between -5 and -15. Northwest wind 11 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.
• Saturday - Sunny and cold, with a high near 15. Wind chill values between -10 and -20. Blustery, with a northwest wind 15 to 21 mph.
• Saturday Night - Increasing clouds, with a low around 7. Wind chill values between -5 and zero. West wind 6 to 11 mph.
• Sunday - Mostly cloudy, with a high near 25. Northwest wind 6 to 10 mph.
• Sunday Night - A chance of snow, mainly after 8pm. Cloudy, with a low around 9. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
• Monday - A chance of snow. Cloudy and cold, with a high near 13. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
• Monday Night - A chance of snow. Partly cloudy, with a low around -4. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
• Tuesday - Partly sunny and cold, with a high near 18.
