Monroe Woman Charged In Food Stamp Fraud Case

A Monroe woman intentionally underreported her income by providing falsified pay stubs to Social Services, according to the court documents.

MONROE, CT — A Monroe woman has been charged with larceny after state law enforcement officials say she tried to bilk the Connecticut Department of Social Services.

According to the arrest warrant affidavit, Thayer Ebron, 37, received $11,151 in SNAP benefits she was not entitled to receive from January 2017 to October 2020. She intentionally underreported her income by providing falsified pay stubs to Social Services, according to the court documents.

Ebron was charged with first-degree larceny. She was released on a promise to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court on May 23.

Since the last quarter of 2022, the Office of Chief State’s Attorney has signed 46 arrest warrants seeking the arrest of individuals accused of scamming Connecticut public assistance programs and is seeking to recover more than $379,400 in restitution.

So far in 2023, the Office of Chief State’s Attorney has recovered $32,717 through up-front, and court-ordered restitution.
