Monroe's Stepney FD Comes to Aid of Nearby Town to Battle Blaze
First arriving units were met with heavy fire venting through first floor windows spreading to the second floor.

MONROE, CT -- The Stepney Volunteer Fire Company came to the aid of colleagues in nearby Trumbull on Tuesday when local Trumbull Center, Long Hill and Nichols companies responded to a blaze at 14 Chatham Drive in Trumbull.
First arriving units were met with heavy fire venting through first floor windows spreading to the second floor. Crews immediately placed a 2.5” hose line into service and established a water supply. During fire suppression, it was determined the structure was unoccupied. It was then that the local crews requested additional resources from Stepney Volunteer Fire Company and Shelton Fire Companies.
Within approximately twenty minutes, the fire was knocked down and crews began an extensive overhaul process, assuring all hotspots were extinguished. All units were back in quarters by 7:00 p.m. and the scene was turned over to the Trumbull Fire Marshal’s Office.
