Multiple Monroe Emergency Crews Tackle House Fire
Crews quickly cut off the fire before it entered the living areas and had it knocked down within 15 minutes, according to fire officials.
MONROE, CT — Firefighters extinguished a blaze just down the road from their firehouse Tuesday evening.
The Monroe Fire Department is reporting residents tipped crews off to the residential fire on Moose Hill Road around 6:40 p.m.
First responders found all occupants safely evacuated and a fire in the attached garage with smoke throughout the entire house. Crews quickly cut off the fire before it entered the living areas and had it knocked down within 15 minutes, according to a report from the Monroe Fire Department.

Additional firefighters responded to the call, including crews from Stevenson Volunteer Fire Company, Stepney Fire Department, Huntington Fire Company No. 3 and a rapid intervention team from White Hills Fire Company.
Monroe Volunteer Emergency Medical Service, Police and Monroe Ladies Auxiliary provided on-scene support and other mutual aid partners provided station coverage, according to a report from the Monroe Fire Department. No firefighters were injured, and all crews were clear of the scene by 8:30 p.m.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
In a statement released Wednesday, the American Red Cross said the agency provided assistance to meet the residents' immediate needs, and will work with them on a longer-term recovery plan.
