New Athletic Field Opening In Monroe This Weekend

The town will celebrate the opening of the new recreational field with a ribbon-cutting ceremony this weekend.

MONROE, CT — A new athletic field is opening at Wolfe Park in Monroe this weekend, giving residents another space for sports, practices and other community activities.

The town will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new field at noon Sunday, Aug. 30. The field is located behind Wolfe's Den Playground at Wolfe Park.

Town officials said the new space is intended for outdoor recreation, sports, practices and community activities.

"This field is another investment in our parks and recreational spaces, creating more opportunities for residents of all ages to stay active, gather with neighbors, and enjoy the outdoors," the town said in announcing the opening.

Officials said they expect local sports teams, families and community groups to use the field.

First Selectman Terrence Rooney is expected to participate in Sunday's ribbon-cutting ceremony.
