Nor'easter Forecast for Monroe

A snow, rain and sleet mix is forecast for the state this week. Read on for when the wintry weather is slated to start.

Rain, snow and sleet are headed Connecticut’s way this week, according to the National Weather Service. Meteorologist Gil Simmons said he is keeping an eye on a Tuesday, Dec. 9, and Wednesday, Dec. 10, storm.

“A complex coastal storm… Nor’easter… is forecast to impact the region beginning on Tuesday, and could continue into Friday,” according to ahazardous weather post from the NWS. “This prolonged potential impact may result in a variety of hazards from significant snow… rain and wind.”

This Week’s NWS Forecast

Monday Night: A slight chance of snow and sleet before 1 a.m., then a chance of snow between 1 and 4 a.m., then a chance of snow and sleet after 4 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 30. Northeast wind 7 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Tuesday: Rain, possibly mixed with sleet, becoming all rain after 7 a.m. In some areas of the state, the rain could be heavy at times. High near 39. Breezy, with a northeast wind 11 to 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90 percecnt. New precipitation amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.

Tuesday Night: Rain. Low around 36. Breezy. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Wednesday: Rain and snow likely, becoming all rain after 9 a.m. Cloudy, with a high near 38. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent.

Wednesday Night: A chance of rain and snow. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 31. Chance of precipitation is 50 percent.

Thursday: A chance of rain and snow. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 39. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent.

Thursday Night: A chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 28. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent,

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 39.
