Monroe Police Arrest Woman for ID Theft

The woman was charged with conspiracy to commit larceny and identity theft after using stolen checks and ID to buy over $1,000 of goods.

On October 26, 2015, Monroe police officers investigated a residential burglary on Pondview Road.

Jewelry, identification and blank checks were stolen and later used in Stratford and Norwalk stores to make purchases totaling $1020.08, according to a police report.

During the course of the investigation, information was collected which led police to obtain an arrest warrant for Lori Savage, 52, of Norwalk. Savage turned herself in to Monroe Police on Feb. 3 and was charged with conspiracy to commit larceny in the fourth degree, third degree identity theft.

Savage was released from custody after posting a $5,000.00 bond. Her court date is set for Feb. 11, 2016.

Tonya Abdur-Raheem was previously arrested on January 8, 2016 by Monroe officers as Savage’s co-conspirator. Abdur-Raheem was charged with criminal liability for the acts of another burglary in the third degree, fourth degree larceny, conspiracy to commit identity theft in the third degree and first degree forgery. Abdur-Raheem signed the stolen checks that Savage cashed, police said.
