Elizabeth Joan “Besty” (Sheehy) Markut, age 74, of Monroe, passed away unexpectedly at her home. She was born in Derby on January 11, 1947 and was raised in Shelton, daughter of the late George and Lillian (Gross) Sheehy and lived in Monroe for over 50 years. She was married to her beloved husband of 57 years, Francis R. “Brut” Markut.She is survived by three sons, Frank Markut and his wife Dawn of Newtown, David Markut of Monroe and Sean Markut of West Haven. She has three grandchildren who were the apple of her eye, Christopher, Erin and David. She is also survived by one brother George Sheehy and one sister Kathleen Petro, and several nieces and nephews. Betsey was predeceased by her brother David Sheehy.Betsy was a nurse's aide who loved to collect hummels, read, listen to music and was very proud of her vegetable garden.Family and friends may call on Friday July 30, 2021 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Riverview Funeral Home 390 River Rd., Shelton.
